Music is an age old tradition in India which is woven into the Indian society through thousands of years.Though the origin of music in India is still hidden in the dark, many theories have been put up linking music from birds to the Indian deities. One such legend goes : Lord Brahma, taught classical music to Lorad Shiva. He inturn imparted the knowledge to Goddess Saraswati,the Goddess of learning. That is why Saraswati is shown as Veena Pustaka Dharini.Thereafter, the knowledge was handed over to Sage Narada, the celestial Gandharvas and the Kinnaras, Bharata and Hanuman, who inturn propogated it to the people
